IMO, Beckett should stay with the 12th. Too many people think that better jobs will make them happy. The grass will always be greener on the other side. Take time to step back and examine life. She had a fulfilling job at the 12th before she met Castle, but how happy was she? Sure, she took pride and pleasure in doing her work well, but how happy was she really? There’s more to life than work. At the 12th she has friends so close they’re her second family. She has career opportunities, and she has love. Her life is in New York, and while a new job is exciting, are the long hours, high stress, and increased danger worth it? She’d still take pleasure in being a cop if she stayed at the 12th. She’d still be close to her friends. And she’d still be with castle. To me, the choice is clear. It just takes some time to process everything. Time to step back and see what’s truly important.
On the Castle front, just because they are engaged, doesn’t mean they have to get married right away. Accepting doesn’t mean everything would have to be wedding planning and parties. I’ve known people who have dated for 5 years and then been engaged for another 2 after that. The engagement is a promise, a confirmation, that eventually you will get married. It lets both individuals, along with everyone else, know where the relationship is heading. It’s not some marry now or forever hold your piece ultimatum.
